Accurate Thinking

Leaders need to be fully engaged in study; in paying the price for greatness. Accurate thinking is the principle behind self-development and expertise. Please don't kid yourself, if you call yourself a leader and are not fully engaged in offensive study vs. defensive study, your lack of self-discipline with catch up with you.

Offensive study is when you fill up the well of your soul because your heart thirsts to be better than you are or because of your thirst for knowledge. Defensive study is study to deliver a lesson or to write a paper or blog. The key is to be fully engaged; gather information.

Behavior psychologists have agreed that if you take a principle that you have learned and ponder it, it will start to develop you self concept. You have the chance at greatness by the mere contemplation alone. So write down your revelations in a journal so they too can be time bounded, awaiting for you to read and re-read them.

How many hours do you spend weekly in deep study?

Are you a lover of books?

Your destiny lies in those time bounded books. Take advantage of the wisdom of the ages that sits picking up dust. You have the wisdom of the world within arm’s length.

"As surgeons keep their instruments and knives always at hand for cases requiring immediate treatment, so shouldst thou have thy thoughts ready to understand things divine and human, remembering in thy every act, even the smallest, how close is the bond that unites the two."

-Marcus Aurelius Antoninus

“The books that help you most are those which make you think the most. The hardest way of learning is that of easy reading; but a great book that comes from a great thinker is a ship of thought, deep freighted with truth and beauty.”

-Theodore Parker

“Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.”

-John Locke
